Course Description
This qualification is from the Health Services Training Package. It will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to provide assistance to anaesthetists during in the provision of anaesthesia. They will learn to prepare a client for anaesthetics and assist health professionals in the course of administering anaesthetics. Students will also learn about health terminology and use it to communicate effectively in the workplace, OHS processes and complying with infection control.

Core: Communicate and work effectively in health; Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work; Contribute to OHS processes; Prepare the anaesthetic environment; Prepare and assist with the preparation of the client for anaesthesia; Provide assistance during induction and maintenance of anaesthesia; Provide assistance during emergence phase of anaesthesia; Provide assistance during an emergency; Provide basic care and maintenance of anaesthetic and monitoring equipment; Confirm physical health status; Use specific health terminology to communicate effectively.
