The Master of Mental Health Nursing aims to enhance students' knowledge, clinical skills and competencies in the field of mental health nursing by providing advanced studies in the field to prepare students to contribute to the present and future development of mental health nursing and the mental health nursing profession. The course also aims to provide students with the skills necessary to seek employment in mental health nursing settings.
Nursing-mental health
Coursework and Clinical streams: 54 Units. Research stream: 52 units. This course offers a Coursework, Clinical and Research pathway. The Coursework pathway enables students to undertake a Nursing Practice Project and elective topics. The Clinical pathway provides students with the opportunity to complete a second nursing stream with a high relevance to mental health nursing and the Research pathway requires students to undertake a Research Project.
Currently Registered Nurse with Nursing degree; or GDip or equivalent qualification; plus 2 years' post-registration experience
Where the Mental Health Nursing stream has already been completed as part of the Graduate Certificate in Health, credit of up to 18 units is normally given. Where the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing has already been completed, credit of up to 36 units will normally be given.
