This qualification is part of the Community Services Training Package. It may be used as a pathway qualification into community services work and may apply specifically to workers who support individuals by providing a first point of contact in a crisis situation and referral to a broad range of services, or workers in residential facilities and/or in community services under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans.

Life after Study
Care workers provide care, supervision and support for children, people with disability and aged people in residential establishments and in their own homes.
Community workers encourage and assist community groups to identify their needs, participate in decision-making and develop appropriate services and facilities to meet those needs.
Personal care workers provide assistance and support to individuals in their homes and other community settings through activities and programs designed to develop and maintain wellbeing.
Welfare workers work with individuals, families, groups and communities to improve quality of life by empowering, educating and supporting people and by helping them to change their social environment.
