The Graduate Certificate in Mathematics caters for the following needs: teachers wishing to build new areas of teaching to be equipped to teach to Year 12 Mathematics; teachers in primary and secondary school level wishing to have a strong grounding in Mathematics; teachers and staff who desire to gain professional development; and students who desire to have a strong grounding in Mathematics.

Units are offered in intensive mode, so that they can be completed by teachers who are employed on a full-time basis.

Mathematicians apply and develop mathematical principles to solve problems in all areas of the sciences, technology, social sciences, business, industry and commerce.
Secondary school teachers teach one or more subjects within the school curriculum to secondary students.
Subjects include English, mathematics, science, drama, dance, art, music, health and physical education, design and information technology, languages other than English, studies of society and environment, and home economics (see entry for Home Economist).
