Course Description
This course is designed specifically to support development of the mental health nursing workforce. Specialty mental health units are undertaken in the third year of the course.

240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings including the two units designated as Mental Health Specialisation, consisting of 90 cp from Inter-professional Learning units; 60 cp from Nursing Theory units; 60 cp from Clinical Nursing Practice units; 10 cp from a Clinical Nursing Specialty Elective unit; 20 cp from University Core units

Study Pathways
Graduates may be eligible for entry to the Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) or the Master of Nursing (Practice Inquiry) for further study in research. Graduates may also progress to postgraduate coursework degrees.
Comments
As a registered nurse, graduates can pursue a career in a range of urban and rural institutional settings such as public/private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics, and in mental health nursing specialties. Other career opportunities available to graduates relate to health promotion and education in community, family settings, and Aboriginal health facilities.
