Course Description
The Graduate Diploma in Clinical Research builds on the foundation knowledge in clinical research developed through the subjects studied in the Graduate Certificate program. It provides opportunities for students to focus the application of this knowledge in specific areas of clinical research such as oncology and neuroscience or to focus on management aspects of clinical research through the biomedical research management subject and the subjects focussed on implementation of clinical trials. This approach provides a comprehensive understanding of the broad area of clinical research and issues associated with good clinical practice, ethics and regulations, as well as analytical and project and team management techniques and the opportunity to develop a comprehensive foundation in the methods and rationales of clinical research in a relevant clinical research specialty area. Through a combination of theoretical and practical course assessment the course provides the opportunity to develop high level analytic and problem solving skills using techniques acquired during the course, the understanding of what needs to be done to apply this knowledge in the work environment and develops report writing skills in the general clinical research area and presentation skills in an area of relevant clinical specialty.

Structure
The Graduate Diploma in Clinical Research requires completion of 100 points of coursework. 50 points are achieved by completing the 4 core subjects: Study Design in Clinical Research; Responsibilities and Ethics of Clinical Research; Managing Clinical Research Projects and Teams; Basic Clinical Research Tools.

Study Pathways
Full credit for completion of the Graduate Diploma is given into the next level of award, the Master of Clinical Research.
